Where the Money is Going

Thanks to all of you fucking wonderful people, Less Than Ladylike Candle Co. has donated $26,000 $34,500 to Senate campaigns across the country. We're also on track for a $20,000 donation to the Women's Rights Project at the ACLU!

We never expected the overwhelming response to this idea and this product. We were unprepared for the outpouring of love and support for RBG and her legacy. But we are LOVING every minute of it.

Because of the massive amount of donations we’ve received, we’re running into a wonderful problem: too much money to give away. We’ve expanded our donation list beyond the original candidate support for Amy McGrath. We’ve supported Democratic candidates in Iowa, Georgia, Mississippi, Arizona, Colorado, South Carolina, Maine, Minnesota, and Texas. 

We’ve received requests to expand our donation activities to House races, governor races, and general Democratic party coffers. While we support all of these endeavors, we felt weird about using proceeds from this product to those ends. 

We launched this product to honor Justice Ginsburg and protect her legacy. We are donating to Senate campaigns to ensure that her successor continues to protect equality for all. Once we’ve hit individual limits for all the Senate campaigns that need support, the rest of the funds raised will go to support the ongoing missions of the Women’s Rights Project at the ACLU.

Founded by Ruth in 1972, the WRP empowers poor women, women of color and immigrant women who have been subject to gender bias and who face pervasive barriers to equality through litigation, community outreach, advocacy, and public education. The WRP focuses on four, core areas of women’s rights: employment, violence against women, criminal justice, and education.

We are still producing and selling Notorious and we will continue through election day. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an icon. She was a champion for women’s rights throughout her life and that fight should never, ever stop. The money you spend on Notorious will go to ensuring that, no matter what happens next, the fight to protect her legacy and life’s work will continue.
